Camille, and all,

Regarding the "Leech Woman", I did indeed come across it on the
NY Times web site on Wednesday, May 19. It was a rather short article,
though.

I had a tantalizing glimpse of my bus-mate's paper on Tuesday, May 18,
however, and there was a full page from Joyce Carol Oates about old JD's
letters. It is available by doing an archive search on the web site, but
one must pay to obtain it, since it is not in the current day's paper.
I did not, and so know nothing of the content of the article.

Did anyone catch this?

Here is a stupid question that has been bothering me. It seems established
that JM has the right to sell the letters, but does she, or anyone, have the
right to publish them? Can JDS copyright them? It seems that $60-80K is not
a lot to pay for material that could be turned into a book which would pull
in a lot more that that, and besides, since JM says she's only in it for
the money, I would think that if should could publish them herself, she would.

all the best,
Mattis
