good questions.

though i don't think the publisher would decide it
wasn't worth publishing--perhaps *they* got tired of
waiting.

and the larger question in my mind is why, in the
first place, did salinger, after 30+ years, decide to
publish a book. especially if 'publishing is an
invasion of my privacy', etc.

anyway, i guess that june 19, 1965 issue of 'the new
yorker' becomes even more valuable on the collectibles
 circuit.
