You'll probably think it's very obvious, but the scene I remember from the Swimmer, and it's a long time since I saw it, is where he is talking to a little boy who can't swim. The pool they're at is drained, Burt Lancaster says they should imagine the water and "swim" across it any way. So they walk along the bottom of the pool "swimming" with their arms. When they get to the other side he tells the boy that he can swim, just because there was no water in the pool doesn't mean the boy hasn't swum. Burt Lancaster then runs off, but soon after he hears this bouncing sound and realises the boy is on the springboard - suddenly you're really worried that the boy is still "imagining" water and is going to dive into an empty pool. Of course Burt Lancaster goes back for him but the boy wasn't going to actually dive anyway……he's not stupid!! As it goes, I quite enjoyed the film. Regards Neil
