In the exhibit, Wysocki has featured several books that have been banned at one time or another. Adorning them with her artwork, she has made a statement about the reason for the banning. Using creative additions ranging from frames to common items, Wysocki has subtly made a point about the misperceptions that have guided the book banners. Wysocki believes all books deserve protection from would-be banners. "I think the general public should have the choice of what t hey want to read -- and not have somebody decide that for them," she says. Ironically, on this year's scheduled tour of the exhibit, an Independence, Missouri library called Ms. Wysocki to bow out. Evidently the library believed that her art was not appropriate for their town. We are proud to showcase Ms. Wysocki's art during Banned Books Week (and beyond). Please enjoy your tour of Banned Books as Art. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- U.S. McLibel Support Campaign Email dbriars@world.std.com PO Box 62 Phone/Fax 802-586-9628 Craftsbury VT 05826-0062 http://www.mcspotlight.org/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe to the "mclibel" electronic mailing list, send email To: majordomo@world.std.com Subject: <not needed> Message: subscribe mclibel To unsubscribe, change the message to: "unsubscribe mclibel"
