Hey, Friends-in-Salinger... I'm new to the list, so I'm probably rehashing a long-settled dispute, but I'd like to introduce myself by introducing this idea: Couldn't Sergeant X be D.B. Caulfield? He's a short story writer, like Sergeant X, and he was in the war...it seems a possibility to me. I haven't located any of the underpublished stories, so all I know of D.B. I know from Catcher. If there's anything in any other Caulfield stories that impugns this idea, let me know. Thanks! B. McKennedy Free web-based email, Forever, From anywhere! http://www.mailexcite.com
