Helena,I absolutely agree with you, you made strongly show that you were
pretty pissed off,and it's good that people on this list know how to disagree
and give their opinion.I read catcher for the first time in 5th grade.I
extremely remember liking Holden and even though I didn't understand some
things,I did understand others.I remember loving the way how Holden said
throughout the book things like"people NEVER do this" and "people ALWAYS do
this."And even though there's some flaws to those views, they are correct
sometimes.That is one thing I like about jds is how he makes Holden the
extreme.Holden cannot stand phonies more than anybody and I love hearing him
express how much he cannot stand it.I have never been very good on telling
people why I love jds.There are so many things about him that I like in his
writing.I'm not even going to attempt to point ouT things about the Glass
family(I think I might even like or relate to Zooey even more than
Holden),but maybe I will someday.I have read catcher many times since and I
get more out of it everytime.I think there's a feeling that jds gives to his
readers( even though the readers are different)that is kind of similar.There
are certain basic things we all like about the 4 books published.Jds truly
does express thing with a style of his own.I think I have said quite enough.I
don't say much on this mailing list but I just felt like talking about jds.I
just read nine stories again.I didn't really have a focal point when I
started writing this.Oh well.Seymour would just tell me not to worry about
it.I really can't say what I want about catcher.It's like Buddy in Zooey.He
shouldn't have trusted that ride home after that girl told him that her two
boyfriends were Bobby and Dorothy or whatever their names were.I don't know
what I did to distract myself.-----Jared
