kari--salinger's one of those authors cursed by his own popularity.  no
scholar is going to make a name for herself championing j.d. salinger, the guy
who wrote that book everybody loves in high school.  this seems rather shallow
and raises my esteem for scholars like our very own will hochman and matt
kozusko even higher.  i hope their students realize what treasures they
have...matt
