Camille,
I, too, am a big fan of "teen" literature. There is some good stuff out
there and it should not be discounted. I was happy when my kids first
started reading things like Paul Zundel, or perhaps The Giver by lois
Lowery.
Can you reccommend any others that I may have missed?

An enthusiastic second to whoever mentioned the 'Dark is Rising' series
(and everything of Susan Cooper's)... Also want to plug my own favorites
as a kid/teenager. Everything written by Joan Aiken (poet Conrad's
daughter) is incredibly worthwwhile. She wrote the 'Wolves of Willoughby
Chase' series which is now something like 10 books long, and some others
which are quite as enjoyable.
