Salinger is just another author, he maybe a damn good one, but all he is is an author. I have just begun to read his works, I have read Catcher and Franny and Zooey, but I believe although he may have been trying to send some sortve message, looking too deep into stories that are meant to be enjoyed can be a bad thing. It can destroy the enjoyment. Yes I find his works moving and they have many messages, but learn from them and don't be obsessive. I will continue to monitor the list and occasionally have input, and read more of his works. I have a unique opportunity because I live in Princeton and maybe able to obtain access to some of the unplublised works that the University has. >> There is merit in trying not to read too deep into things, and looking at great authors like him, we do have a tendency to overanalyze everything, however I think it's a little under playing to say he is "just" an author. It's true he is an author. And if I had another favorite author, I'd love to read about people's opinions on his work too. It just happens JD Salinger is one I'm very impressed with and very interested in and he's had a lasting affect on my life. I'll agree that he's no more than an author to me, but he's one who's influenced my life so greatly that I love to read people's thoughts on his work. That's so cool that you might be able to go see his rarely seen stories! Wow, I'm envious. Well, those were just some of my thoughts. ~Lynda
