Pasha did a good job answering but I want to add my two cents...

I think Salinger is one of the few authors who continues to "speak to me"
in ways that make me certain that within my own experience, he is not
"just an author" but one whose ability and insight and words do more than
most.

Reading for pleasure or escape is cool, but I think Salinger's work offers
more than those fine reading pleasures for anyone who wants to think
carefully and analytically about his or her reading experiences with
Salinger texts...and on this list, it's good ideas about reading
experiences that are well thought out that tickle me most, along with good
information about Salinger and his work...thanks,
