Subject: days gone by

I was having a disagreement with a friend this weekend and I would like to
put this situation to the experience of this diverse list group. In your
high school days, which may or may not be now, was there ever any romantic
involment between a student and a teacher. In other words, in how many
people's high schools was there a teacher student affair? I realize this is
not JDS related other that a very loose link to Mr Antolinni, but one of us
contends that it is not that unusual and one of us feels it is a rare
occurance.

Patti,

never in mine as far as i was then aware but recently there've been two
cases in england of a teacher-student ring-a-ding-ding. one of a female
teacher who absconded with a male student to the u.s. she was thrown in
prison on statutory rape charges, i think, as he was fifteen. the male
teacher was tried but the case was thrown out of court (she was sixteen and
there's no legislation about responsibility and influence in schools, as
yet) and he's now shacked up with the girl.

hmm.

it depends what you mean by rare, i think. i bet there's usually one going
on in a school at some point. i know our sports teachers (damn them all to a
bare library for eternity!) always had a couple of sixteen year old girls
twitting around. and i know one of them married one of the teachers almost
as soon as she left. so you go figure.

wow. it sounds as if i went to quite the pit of sin and illegality.

ta ta,
