Interestingly, I read Ron Rosenbaum's review of Dream Catcher
yesterday and thought part of it reminded me of something I thought,
where he points out that it has rarely, if ever, been pointed out that
there are obvious parallels between "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" and
Hemingway's "Big Two-Hearted River."

I was pleased to find, in the attic of old posts, the first message I
ever put out on the list, at:

... where I speculated on these very same parallels.

It's hard to imagine that it's about 3.5 years that I've been poking
around this list. It doesn't lead me to nostalgia, but it does make
me shake my head at the passage of time. Or it makes me feel aged.
I'm not entirely sure.
