All I find here is:

Margaret Salinger mentions that her father spent some time in Canada in the
summer of 1940. Nothing more re where.

However, Paul Alexander, whose nearly every word is under suspicion, is a
bit more specific in his biography:

"Then, by early August [1940], he had moved on to Canada. On August 8, he
mailed a postcard to Whit Burnett from Murry Bay, a charming resort in
Quebec."

Paul, should we question "charming"?
