Isn't PUREism a funny thing?

Bruce's post containing DUST JACKET notes ranked among the most enjoyable
and informative contributions that I've read here in some time (I'll get
back to Graham's GREAT precis of Quebecois politics later....)

It was totally refreshing to read some utterly NEW Salinger (even if he did
sound almost frighteningly like Buddy).

And then, a nano-second later, I suddenly remembered that Salinger is
virtually a "paper-back writer" for me. I've got a hardbound copy of
CATCHER (the BOMC facimile of the first edition), but mass-market paperbacks
of everything else.

And it almost feels UN-NATURAL to even contemplate reading Jerry in any
other format.

Cheers,

Paul

PS--And the CATCHER cover, by the way (and by prior agreement) is the same
colour as a fine burgundy.
