I can hardly believe what I'm reading.

First, all these ghastly, smarmy suckings-up to
Father O'Connor P.P. followed by the girlish
appeal to the Bishop for some kind of ruling
from the Hierarchy in support of her ludicrous
'illegitimacy' theory. (I cannot imagine why
she should wish to taint by association with this
lot the decent & upright Bruce.)

Does she really imagine that, somewhere, there's
a body of august opinion that somehow supersedes
our own? How very quaint - the idea of academic
lit crit centred on J.D.Salinger having the same comical
quality as a PhD in football, which I believe certain
    American colleges award.

But what I find truly unforgivable is the ommission
of any reference WHATSOEVER to His Eminence.
This must be the most studied insult I've come across
    in a long time.

(Oops. Sorry. Missed it again - that darling little
    lower case w.)

    Scottie B.
