Cecilia et al.,

It's so good to have you back! I am going to attempt to take up your
challenge and (re) introduce myself.

I am a woman of only 21 years by the name of Amber Brooke Raley. If you
search my first and last name in google you will find another Amber Raley
who writes poetry, that is not me. I have in the past tried to write poetry
in a course at Agnes Scott College where I am currently a senior student. I
am taking a ridiculous amount of courses (six=21 semester credit hours)
because at one point I thought I might want to graduate in December (I
DON'T).

Yesterday I climbed a tree in front of my school about 3 1/2 stories high
and slid down on a rope, burning my hand, so my typing is slightly impaired.

I am a student of Industrial/Organizational Psychology and I work in a Human
Resources department around 25 hours a week to pay for school and rent.

I am... I am... I am... rambling. Although I was born in a small town in
North Alabama and spent the first 18 years of my life there I take my
current home of Atlanta as my soul home. My mother, my grandmother, and my
great-grandmother all of whom are still alive raised me and well which I
hope predicts my longevity. Although I love these women dearly it is
difficult to talk to them because their ideas are so different from mine
these days. I wish they had been able to attend college like I am doing
now. I am the first person in my extend family to ever go to a four year
institution. I have a cousin who is a year older than me who went to
community college but dropped out. Some of my family is very proud of my
achievement (my mother), others think that I am wasting my time and they
believe that have moved to the city and abandoned them.

I don't drink, smoke, consume caffeine, eat meat (I am a lacto/ovo
vegetarian), and I'm cutting back to one or two "lip stuff" applications a
day (down from in excess of 8 applications).

I read as much as I can but I've found it is difficult to find guilt-free
time to read things that are not assigned. Although over the summer I did
have a chance to re-read my Tolken collection. I know some scholarly types
criticize his fantasy worlds. However I enjoy being whisked away to another
world upon occasion. Sometimes it's Middle Earth other's it may be a room
with a telephone under the name Seymour Glass.

Which brings up a question to other bananafish. One of my favorite things
about Tolken is you get the sense that he really believed in his world. How
well do you believe Salinger has constructed his own worlds of Glass and
Caulfield?

I visited Cecilia in her windy city home and I am so glad that she is back.
Everyone in the computer lab looked up at me as I laughed about the farmer's
wife chasing around mice.

I could live in hope,

Amber
