Nausea indeed. And thanks for the numerology (more semiotic or structuralist than decon, but fun nonetheless). I have a copy of an old essay somewhere where Bob Scholes, the one-time semiotician, re-writes and reduces a Joyce story (Araby, I think) into an equation, complete with all the appropriate mathematical notation. It's a horrific piece that still gives me nightmares. I chose my fields of study deliberately to avoid such things. I am forty-one years old and still, to this day, cannot factor an equation. Fortunately, it never seems to come up. No one ever approaches me at a party and says "Hey, I have this equation here, could you factor it for me?"
