Hi Pete,

No, you shouldn't feel any of those things. I'm writing *my* autobiography.
It shouldn't be like anyone else's. You should no more feel like you ought
to recognize all these words than you would feel that you had to have lived
what has happened to me. Some of my story might seem familiar to you in some
ways, but most of it won't. Our "lives" might overlap at moments and be
completely different at others.

As the samples demonstrate, there are a million stories out there in the
naked city, and some of them have become part of mine...

The game -- the naming -- is secondary and incidental. I am still trying to
write myself, by way of introduction. And if parts of me are strange to you,
that's as it should be, just as parts of you would no doubt be completely
strange to me.

And yet all these parts remain available. And yet reading, it turns out, can
help us become less strange to one another, perhaps. Perhaps not. But I can
hope.

Still, this is "exclusive" only in so far as writing one's autobiography must
always be somewhat "exclusive," I suppose. But you should not feel left out
nor alienated. Not at all.

It's just me.
