PS: When I referred to "the last line, " I was talking about the last line
the artist utters, of course, and not the last line in the story. Indeed, the
story ends with that great (and sad, for some of us) image of future
entertainments -- the panther -- who gives the people just what they need and love.
(There's also an extra "he's" somewhere in the post. It's early and my eyes
are blurry.)
