Jim,
On no account - NO account - ever - EVER - refer to
Byron's poem as anything other than Don Joo'n. To speak
of Don Hwann immediately conjures up the corner grocer
who has saved all year for his holiday in Mayorrka or
    - horror of winking horrors - his dirty weekend in Gay Paree.
You must surely know by now that one mark of gentle birth
is the refusal to master foreign pronunciations (think of Churchill
& his 'Nahzees'). The alternative is to acquire them so faultlessly
that they can only have been learned in extreme infancy at
the knee of one's French (or Italian or Spanish) Nanny.
Milor' might make an exception in your case - as he would
for the Ireeshan poetaster Tom Moore - but I'm demned sure
    his fellow peers wouldn't.
    Scottie B.
