My review of _At Home in the World_ is coming out tomorrow and it's pretty negative but I too think JM had a right to write the book--it's just not very good, though it does offer some Salinger info that is apopos...for example, JM describes a scene with champagne that harkens back to the ending of "A girl I knew," and getting a sense of Mr. Salinger's eccentricity was colorful...I guess I enjoyed news of the author even though I knew it was hurtful to him...probably what i enjoyed most was JM's inclusion of Salinger telling her how she writes gossip and nothing of importance...I think JM is a phony with a fine hustle going and she's milking it for all it's worth and I can't deny that I've been enjoying the process...but at the same time I'm teaching a seminar where students are mostly in Salinger texts and believe me, that's where the real fun is...will
