Hi all!
I thought this might be intersting. Here are some names of
Salinger's characters and what they mean.
First of all Jerome himself: Jerome (Greek) "Sacred Man"
Jerome (Latin) "holy"
Character's----
Zooey(another form of Zoey) (Greek) "life"
Fran(France) "free one"
Holden (English "from the hollow in the valley" (intersting ?)
Holden (Teutonic) "Gracious"
Pheobe(Greek) "Sparkling" interesting because in CITR Phoebe was one of
the only things that wasn't phony to holden.
Seymour(English)"tailor"
Seymour(French) "from St. Maur"
Seymour(Teutonic)mighty at sea
Just thought this might be intersting for you all to know:) Nikki
