I'm sure New York City presents a dreary, even fearful, view of life as it is now lived. And probably no worse than in any other great modern urban conglomerate lacking 'an overiding mythology'. I'm also confident that the Catholic ethos is no worse than many other systems of belief in producing its peculiar horrors. However, I should be interested to hear from those countless victims of abuse - physical, emotional & sexual - now emerging from the shadows of church orphanages & Order schools. What do they feel, I wonder, about the peculiar benefits arising from the `overiding mythology' of the principal Christian sect ? Scottie B.
