On the contrary - in some ways I think we get to know Jane better than
anyone else. It's certainly less of a superficial knowledge than of Sally
Hayes or even Phoebe. I love all the little details that tell us so much
about Jane without telling us anything - like the famous kings in the back
row. It is true that she comes to us completely filtered through Holden's
consciousness - but then again, when you think about it, that's how *all*
the characters reach us.
