Camille,

Will's bouquet of birthday wishes surprised even *me*--I am not *completely*
sure from whence it sprang. (Thanks, will! It must be the New England
air.)

But I believe a closer reading of the self-indulgent post reflected in the
Subject Line will reveal my true birthday to be December 22, 1950. If only
I had known that Scottie had chosen the 23rd; I would have held off a few
more hours, enjoying the view, and made my reluctant exit a minute after
midnight.

So I take it *yours* is the 16th?

P.S. If I am not mistaken, we share a love of literature and the blank
page.
