Matt, what a dazzling post!  I tend to agree that language (especially the
way you shape it) is central to what it means to be human...at the same
time I like Sussane K. Langer because she was able to see that emotional
experience for example, can exist beyond or without language...thus your
broad use of language may scoop up her discursive and non discursive
thinking.  As a poet, I'm always "translating" feeling into words, but
feeling there's much I'm not able to say..."Forgive me/ they were
delicious / so sweet /and so cold"
