Why not? As Jerry Rubin wrote in *Do It*: "Holden Caulfield is a Yippie"
(promoting him thus to the status of official "icone" of the movement) there
has been some relevance of Salinger's major character to that wild
generation of the Sixties. At a time when it was not possible for
US-residents to get directly to Cuba Rubin went there to see Ché - another
hero of that time.
