I thought you might hear the bugles in the distance...
But then, recalling Berger, I was worried it might actually be the "trumpets,
flutes, and drums" playing "Garry Owen" and that another slaughter was
approaching...
The edge in the tone did seem a bit more than was needed to me.
I agree, though, that "nastiness" was the wrong word. Just trying to offer a
little advance warning for those who might need it.
