"Consecrated bombs" and "blessed guns" sound familiar to me too, like
something that Kurt Vonnegut would write/say.

"Moloch" didn't make me think about New York, but it did make me think of
Ozymandias, which did make me think of New York.

MOLOCH BROADSIDE by Alan Ginsberg, 1956. <http://mrevak.com/moloch.html>
This is a very writhing, protesting poem that gives me a shiver in its
parallels to the World Trade Center bombing -- in imagery and emotions.
Also take a look at the image on that page.

Actually, I found that poem while I was looking for some poem that was
running through my mind after I wrote my missive. Little phrases like
"consecrated bombs," and "blessed guns" were going through my mind. I
thought that would be an Alan Ginsberg poem, though I am not very familiar
with his work. I did a search for those phrases and didn't find it. Anyone
recognize these as from something out there in literature? The only other
thing I can think of is Bessie's consecrated chicken soup!

What is Moloch? Scary parallels continue:
"... the word Moloch (A.V. Molech) means king ... The chief feature of
Moloch's worship ... seems to have been the sacrifice of children, and the
usual expression for describing that sacrifice was 'to pass through the
fire', a rite carried out after the victims had been put to death. ... The
offerings by fire, the probable identity of Moloch with Baal, and the fact
that in Assyria and Babylonia Malik, and at Palmyra Malach-bel, were
sun-gods, have suggested to many that Moloch was a fire- or sun-god."
Another source says the victims were burned alive:

Horrible.

P.S. I didn't drop anything off at any church after all.
