How do we stop the bleeding?

Everything I hear or read or say somehow seems to pack a double meaning
these days. Metaphorical signicance is everywhere. Scottie will probably
say that I'm suffering a textbook case of some kind of psychosis. Scottie
(as often) is probably right.

My own life has been so crazy and chaotic recently that there's been no time
to even open any messages from bananafish. Cecilia and Mattis each informed
me privately that they'd quit the list. In normal circumstances, I believe
I would have been shocked. These are not normal circumstances. 'Shock' has
a whole new meaning.

This morning, while digging through the debris that is my IN box, I found
Sean's original message. Like one of those other-worldly cell phone calls
from the crumbled towers, it was posted out-of-sequence, AFTER several of
the saddened responses to it from Sean's friends.

I'm sad. 'Sad' also has a whole new meaning.

I don't know what's been said here. I don't know whether there's really
anything to say.

Be kind to other people. Try to make the world a better place. Find peace
where you can.

Paul
