I'm endlessly intrigued by the arcane rules observed by
     our lower-case merchants.

In her latest post, Nathalie strips everyone & every thing
of their capitals - including the character that our
(presumably revered) author intended to be identified
with a tall F. But this is democracy - or, maybe what she
assumes to be the practice of 'liberally artistic' women -
so that even her President is reduced to a modest shrub
standing at the side of the lane that (who?) acts as unseeing
witness to little frannie's spiritual quest.

But there are exceptions. Television, which she castigates
throughout her post, is honoured with a gigantic pair of
capitals. And, of course, HERSELF. No fucking humility
here, mates. This is big N talking. Big N.

In a final twist of cruelty, the doyen of the list, will, the one
man who tries to put everyone at their ease by crouching down
to their kindergarten level is thrust, blushing & protesting, into
     the glare with a huge, neon-lit double-OO.

     Baffling. But wonderful.

I've been relaxing my own rules a bit recently but hereby give
due notice of their renewal. Once again & in future, an absolutely
foolproof way of avoiding my basilisk eye will be to write posts
in the all-lower-case format. No matter how cogent the argument,
or breath-taking the imagery, they will be ignored in their entirety
     in this quarter.

For many, I imagine, an easement devoutly to be wished.

     Scottie B.
