I've done it! The line in "Teddy" about his eyes had been bugging me for years! I know I had read it before but I did not know where. Finally while re-reading Seymour: An Introduction, I figured out Buddy quotes that line. Since my readings had been so far in-between, I had not ben able to make the connection.
