to Elizabeth Respess your account reminded me of my first weekend here. friday night we went out (as is customary at a party school such as this) and got awfully drunk. not even the two mile walk home (which included a footbridge, an awful hill, seven flights of steps, a six lane divided highway, and a security guard---no exaggerations here) sobered us up. anyway, unlike most of the nights we've spent wandering around drunk or watching movies until we're sober, we took old issues of my school newspaper, folders from high school english courses, and our personal journals out into the courtyard and sat from 12:30 until nearly 3 am and read poetry, prose, and discussed the significance of all of the little things...basically anything and everything was fair game. it was probably the best time i've had when i was drunk (minus the excitement of running from cops last friday). it definitely gave all of us involved a new perspective of one another (given that we'd all known each other for less than a day). compared to all of the other things we've done after parties, this was definately one of my favorite times. (i might add, we were virtually sober when we finally went in and went to bed). jessica :)
