In a message dated 97-09-23 02:02:44 EDT, you write:

<< Why don't you tell us a little about how you happened on Salinger, and
what it was about him that hooked you? I think a lot of us are
fascinated by this, since we've all gone through it in one form or
 another. >>

Thank you for such a warm welcome!!!
I've enjoyed Sailinger since I was in high school. It all started when i
found an old red- cover of Cather in the Rye at a garage sale (.25 cents).
That same summer, a friend gave me for my birthday Nine Stories. I say then
I became hooked.
After reading a work of fiction, I sometimes feel attached to the
characters. When the book ends, it's almost a sad event because you have to
leave them. What I've come to LOVE about the works of Salinger is that the
same characters reappear in different stories. The characters seem more
alive and real that way.
Bye for now!
