The book Franny and Zooey goes from the self centered concern for
salvation and
enlightenment of Franny to Zooeys explanation that the fat lady is
everyone and that the fat
lady is christ. This puts the emphasis not on just self and salvation
but outwards to others
who are the fat lady, (christ), along with us. Of all the characters
Zooey seems the most
unsaint like yet his vision is the cleanest.
