I agree that one cannot ever experience the exact same feelings.  I
wondered what generational experience would come out of reading "Catcher"
as well as some of the sort stories.  So I have three readers including
myself reading and discussing and this is a very interesting
subject..because we all can relay to the core withing the core but in a
different way ..Salinger is definately more clear with each reading..must
travel the creeks before you can reach the ocean...
