In Salingerish news ... I just read a review for a book which I think is
called `Reaching Heaven' (it has a heavenish title) whose hero is named
Holden Garfield, and who is a journalist who has just come back from the
war in Bosnia. It's apparently about repressed and unrepressed memories,
not to mention our old favourite, the loss of innocence. Apparently Holden
is motivated by his desire to save a girl called Melanie who refuses to
remember the slaughter of her own family. Apparently the author `relies on
the reader's knowledge of `The Catcher in the Rye' in the interpretation of
the book. Anyone heard of or read this one?
