In _J.D._Salinger,_Revisited_, Warren French goes to some effort to mention
when each story and book was published, and what Salinger was probably
doing at the time.  At the least, for each short story, he mentions what
other projects were in progress at the time.  (Interestingly, in connection
of our previous discussion, he notes that "dDS's Blue ." was the first
post-_Catcher_ story.)  If nothing else, this book would be a place to start.
