I was in New York last summer (visiting my girlfriend,
cousin, and checking out NYU). I thought, since my
application is now being processed that I have to say
I love New York. Of course, that could be because I've
lived in California for 18 of my 19 years, but I the
east coast was such a fresh change for me. I stayed
for a little longer than a month: 1st week in Jersey
City (about 10-15 min. away from Manhattan), 2nd week
in downtown manhattan at my cousin's girlfriend's
apartment (they were out of town for the weekend; near
22nd and 3rd); then I got a room at the YMCA in
Flushing for the rest of the time. I think my stay was
long enough for me to get a feel of New York(though
only the summer season), and there really is nowhere
else I want to go to school. I applied for film and
dramatic writing, but if I'm not accepted, I'll still
be here in Cali, lol. I loved Chinatown, St. Marks
Place, seeing Travis Bickle's apartment from "Taxi
Driver", going to the Metropolitan Museum, walking
across the Brooklyn Bridge, visiting the World Trade
Center, going to CBGB's(only once, lol), visiting my
girlfriend in Queens, my small airconditioned room at
the YMCA, trying to get a room at the youth hostel but
not having reservations, etc... Even flying in on the
plane and seeing the ocean on the east side instead of
the west was such a shocking change (even though I've
known all along that it is on that side) lol.
