    Dear Jason,

I don't really give a damn about inconsistency.

Having preached to Camille & others about not
wasting time on listservs, I now say to you:

                    DON'T BE RIDICULOUS.

Of course you can't leave us.

    Leave your job? - certainly.
Work the system? - of course.
Sponge off the parents? - what else?
Put your girl on the street? - good thinking.
Computer larceny? - surely you have the skills.

But walking out on the few people who MIGHT
understand all that? That's just romantic posturing.
I don't remember Joyce or Hemingway giving up
their drinking buddies to help them concentrate.

When you're making that thirtieth cup of coffee
or playing that nineteenth game of Free Cell while
thinking out how to MAKE IT NEW (remember
Pound's advice) you'll be wishing you hadn't dumped
your old chums quite so flambuoyantly.

Here. Take this back at once.

I do NOT accept this resignation. Just get on
with things & stop shooting yourself in the foot.

    Scottie
