Yes, it's hard to judge what is Salinger's deliberate effect (of having
Franny rush out her letter with its casual punctuation and spelling)
and what's a mistake that slipped in. D's citations, which suggest a
little of all of the above, make me not sure what gets a "[sic]" and
what doesn't. Unless you "[sic]" every error, deliberate and not.
Why did I let myself get dragged into this crazy project?!?
