Scottie,
You write, concerning our new President and his personal history:
" Unfortunately, the governance of a great people demands
subtler & more advanced talents: talents which can really
only be fostered in a setting of financial security, educational
priviledge & family connections.  Without these, what one
tends to find rising to the top is a kind of bookish
industriousness coupled with a ruthless, populist ambition
from which moral considerations are quite absent. "
Are you suggesting that the young George W. or George W. the oil man or
George W. now the politician has ever demonstrated or that his administration
is currently demonstrating a healthy amount of or a particular penchant for
"moral considerations?" Are you suggesting that the current Bush
administration's decisions have been, so far, made with careful and constant
consideration given to what is "moral?" Are you seriously suggesting that
the administration of which George W. is the leader, unlike possibly all
other past administrations, has demonstrated any full presence, rather than
any noticeable "absence" of consistently prioritizing "moral considerations?"
Who is being naive?
