Hi.
I'm a life-long labour party liberal, and I'll not deny it. Although the
political diatribes have been fun, I thought I'd like something different,
perhaps more literary from a JDS board. See if you fancy these:

Proposal #1) I asked before if anyone knew where I could find the
"Pierre...Don Quixote" story in a fiction collection. No response, fair
enough, might not exist out of Borge collections. But are there any little
snippets anyone would care to share? Meaning, a short story that was
surprisingly good, or from someone that popped up in a surprising place, or,
well, anything good or odd. For example a couple of years back, a
girlfriend, after reading my published erotica, gave me a book of erotic
horror stories that included some surprising authors as contributors. I'll
dig it up and tell you about it.

Proposal #2) I said I was having trouble with Hapworth, with the age thing,
and apparently since I wasn't the first to bring it up, got little response.
Fair enough, I should have subscribed long ago instead of spending months
in the lotus position. Nevertheless, what problems do you all have with
JDS? You may well have discussed them already, but post anyway, it'll give
me food for thought. I have all the early works, the V. brothers, etc, and
may even have the last & best of Peter Pans & ocean full of bowling balls
still lying around, so if you make reference to even his obscure works, I
promise you I have them & can discuss the with you.

Proposal #3) Friends tell me that when I go through months of reading
nothing but JDS, I become maudlin, even morose. I think it's because of his
take on love, which, except for familial and unrequited, seems terribly
unsatisfactory. Not that I want to read romance novels, simply that he
takes the hope from me, part of the beauty of his writing. Okay, I'm
overstating it, being a bit melodramatic, but you know what I'm saying.
What's your take on "salinger on love"?

Can't wait to hear from you,

"I get enough politics from BBC world news" tina
