Next time you're wondering why our country enters war after war after war,
tell yourself -- it's silenced its voices of dissent. Not so much by mass
censorship (but don't think this doesn't exist), but by telling people what
they want to hear so often they refuse to hear anything else.

It used to be that there was nothing worse than being a smart ass.

Now, there's simply nothing worse than being smart.

Jim

Jim, it's not 'smart' that is the issue it is 'being' intellectual. I guess
those old enlightenment types should have never taught us how to read and
write and cipher. The intellectual would be the source for guidance if they
could actually demonstrate their intelligence. They (most of them, anyway)
just now how to tell more gaudy myths that they couldn't sell. Their
delicate intellects need more gentle stroking. Maybe the Frankfurt school
should go back to the charcoal vs. gas debate and cataloging spicy mustards
and they may actually come up with something that demonstrates their
intelligence.
