I hate saying stuff like "If you liked CITR then you're sure to enjoy this or
that," but I must say that "Rule of the Bone", a novel by Russel Banks, does
show skillful similarities. You guys should all read it. Believe me, I
wouldn't compare any old coming of age novel to Catcher. I actually hated
"This Boy's Life." Anyway, Banks has a nice way of using simple language to
cenvey enormously complicated themes, as of course does JDS. This, along
with Knowles' work, is the only material of the genre that I believe is worth
comparing with Salinger's.
Also, if anyone has any Hapworth stories, couldja please send me some.
