I'd have to agree that guns aren't the source of the problem in
Columbine. You need to realize that every weapon and bomb those two
young men possessed were probably illegally possessed by them by our
current laws. Just making tougher laws won't stop people already
committed to breaking the law.
And I think you also need to consider what would happen to the balance of
power between the people and the government in our society. If only the
government owned the guns, they would be capable of exercising a tyranny
over its people without opposition. Preventing that was the intent of
the "right to bear arms."
