Though I missed the great San Francisco earthquake of 4/18/06 by just a few
years, I was here for the 10/17/89 jolt which stopped the World Series
between the Oakland A's and the San Francisco Giants. (That last bit is
included for our baseball fish.) Working away on the 25th floor of a
42-story building when it hit, I can say it wasn't much fun. Honestly
thought we were going to topple over.
