Well OK, Victoria. But my Chambers Twentieth
Century Dictionary certainly places the 'm.' before the 'f.'
As you say it, implies 'beloved' & is described, slightly
to my surprise, as a Scots name derived from the French
- presumably a corruption of 'Aime'.
