Hi Scottie,

Yes, a lesson of which I am well aware. :)

I just figured "the girls who melt with that approach" on this list weren't
ever likely to be possibilities anyway.

And a couple of other thoughts for Robbie and Jim:

I first listed the "Son of God" along with the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and
the Tooth Fairy (as opposed to Ahab or Gregor) because, when I was little, my
parents went out of their way to try and convince me to "believe" in those
first characters, mostly by performing tricks, secretly leaving eggs behind the
couch or money under my pillow or taking me to some big building where a guy
in a colored robe waved shiny things and said magic words or to the glorious
mall where I could sit on the lap of an overweight, underpaid dude in a bright
red suit. They never did quite the same sorts of things for other literary
characters, historical or otherwise.

At this point, though, Jesus is for me much like Madonna. Perhaps they were
both once real people, but they have long since been elevated to the status of
cultural icon primarily in order to get people to do things.

--John (now getting back "into the groove" for the Gap)
