Tim, I think a pen name has more possible "reclusion" in it than you do,
but agree it probably wouldn't stop some from "discovering the source,"
but I have wondered why mr. salinger shifted from a young short story
writer trying to make a name for himself to a writer needing to remove his
name and presence from the public, and if he thought of publishing under a
pen name.  One of the things surfacing from maynard may help...maybe it's
mr. salinger's character, not him that would really need "pen names" to be
protected?
